Characteristics of High Frequency Servers For Cloud Computing

Cloud computing has been the talk of the town ever since it was first introduced. This concept basically means that the resources such as bandwidth, storage and processing are provided to a user on demand through the internet. This is quite a huge deal for the user as it enables him to use the internet in the place where he can be physically present but his applications and data will still be VPS backed up in the cloud solution servers. Hence, you do not need to keep an extra server at your home which would have to be housed in a cramped place just to be able to accommodate your work. The cloud solution servers are geographically dispersed allowing you to access your data from any place in the world.

One of the main factors affecting the response times of a web application is the response time distribution. This simply means that the number of requests made to the server is also a factor that can affect the overall response time. A well-designed cloud computing system will take care of the server response times by efficiently balancing the load between the different applications. Hence, we can define two types of cloud computing:

Public cloud solutions such as Amazon’s AWS and Google Compute Engine are great for businesses which do not require high quality servers for its operational needs. A cloud solution usually consists of a network of remote servers with low latency or even no latency. This is very useful for e-commerce websites and e-mail services, which need a fast response from their server and do not necessarily need high quality hardware. The downside of these public cloud solutions is that the servers are generally shared by a large number of users which can create a poor performance.

Private clouds, on the other hand, are servers that are exclusively used by a single customer or organization. The advantage of this type of cloud computation is that the costs are split between several customers. This is great for organizations that have many customers but do not have the resources to maintain their own servers. Another advantage of private cloud computing is that the data can be secure since it is hosted on a separate server than the rest of the network. Some private clouds have physical security servers as well, although most of the cloud servers are located on the Internet.

Cloud service providers use different kinds of hardware and software to provide the solutions on demand. There are three basic characteristics of any good cloud provider: high availability; scalability; and reliability. High availability is the ability of the system to deliver expected resources even when the physical hardware or servers is down; scalability is the ability of the system to add or remove workloads according to the traffic requirements; and reliability refers to the ability of the system to deliver consistent, reliable performance even during unexpected circumstances.

High frequency servers are better suited for low workloads. They consume less power but are faster to respond. As load tests are executed, the CPU responds faster than the RAM and I/O bandwidth. The utilization percentage of the resources is also higher in these machines than in other types of machines. These machines have lower overhead so they consume less CPU time and power.
